Halloween candy isnt so scary when it comes to keeping teeth healthy, if kids enjoy their sugary indulgences in moderation and brush afterwards. As dentists, we enjoy a sugary treat once in a while too, but cavities dont have to follow, said Dr. Melissa Naidyhorski, from Metro Dentalcare Chanhassen. So were sponsoring a day-after Halloween party and candy buy-back program. Its our opportunity to encourage children and their families to exercise smile-friendly habits all year long especially as we kick off the holiday season.

Turn left over candy into cash. Participating Metro Dentalcare practices are offering to pay $1 per pound of candy to children 12 and under (up to five pounds each child). Kids and their families will be treated to healthy snacks, a free toothbrush, and other games and prizes. Dont forget to wear your Halloween costume. There will be special prizes for the best costumes too.

So have fun, make a few dollars and learn healthy dental habits. The candy collected will be donated to Ronald McDonald House charities, for kids who couldnt go trick-or-treating.
